J.R. Childress - Eco-Educational Thriller Novelist & Environmental Storyteller
Harvard-Trained Marine Ecologist and International CEO Writing About Our Planet's Environmental and Social Crises

Welcome to the world of eco-thriller fiction that doesn't just entertain, it awakens. I'm J.R. Childress, author of environmental thrillers that shine a light on the urgent ecological crises threatening our planet, from illegal overfishing on the oceans to the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.
My novels aren't just stories. They're calls to action grounded in real-world environmental disasters that demand our attention. Drawing on my background as a marine ecologist trained at Harvard University and my decades working with global corporations, I craft thrillers that combine edge-of-your-seat suspense with hard-hitting environmental truth.
Why Eco-Thrillers Matter Now?
We're living through the sixth mass extinction. Our oceans are being stripped bare by illegal fishing fleets. The Amazon burns. Climate change accelerates. These aren't distant future problems, they're happening now. My novels take readers inside these crises through the eyes of activists, scientists, and ordinary people who refuse to stand by while our planet is destroyed.
Oceans of Blood exposes the catastrophic illegal fishing industry decimating our oceans, where 100 million sharks are killed annually just for shark fin soup and criminal fishing fleets operate with impunity. Desperate Measures takes you deep into the battle to save the Amazon rainforest from industrial destruction. Each novel is meticulously researched and addressing actual environmental disasters.
From Marine Science to Storytelling
My path to writing eco-thrillers began in the 1970s as a Harvard graduate student in marine ecology, studying ocean ecosystems and learning to scuba dive in Lebanon. After co-founding an international leadership consultancy and spending 23 years as its President and CEO, I returned to my first love: the ocean and the environmental issues that have defined my life.
Now based in London after years living in a 13th-century château in southern France, I divide my time between advising global leadership teams, writing business books on corporate culture including my upcoming Culture 4.0: The Future of Corporate Culture, and crafting the eco-thriller novels that educate readers about our planet's most pressing environmental challenges.
